DevOps - What is it?

DevOps stands for development and operations, a combination of practices and tools that improve companies’ ability to rapidly build, update and deliver applications. It is a software development methodology that combines a software framework and IT functions to improve the speed and reliability of software delivery. It is a culture and set of processes that focus on collaboration, automation and integration throughout the software development lifecycle, from development and testing to deployment and maintenance.

Terraform Introduction

Terraform is an open source tool used to manage cloud infrastructure resources. It allows you to create, change, and destroy resources on cloud infrastructure like AWS, GCP, Azure, and DigitalOcean. It is often used by developers who need to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Read more about the basics, along with examples of real-world applications. Terraform Introduction Terraform is an open-source infrastructure as code (IaC) software tool created by HashiCorp. It allows users to define and provision data center infrastructure using a declarative configuration language.

Citrix Virtual Desktop Agent Upgrade

Somewhere down the line, Citrix Admins need to upgrade their Citrix Site from one version to another, Example, from XenDesktop 71.5 LTSR to CVAD 1912 LTSR. For Citrix site upgrade, we have to mount the product ISO in Citrix server and run the setup file. But What about VDIs? Based on your company’s VDA usage, you may have hundreds to thousands of VDIs in your company. How do you upgrade VDA agent on all those VDIs?

Machine Catalog Update Tool

Streamlining Citrix VDI Management: Introducing a New GUI Tool for MCS Static Catalogs As Citrix Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) administrators, one of the ongoing tasks includes updating master images and machine catalogs. While this task is relatively straightforward for Provisioning Services (PVS), the process for Machine Creation Services (MCS) differs, particularly between dynamic and static VDIs. MCS Dynamic VDIs For MCS dynamic VDIs, Citrix Studio provides a convenient GUI option to update the machine catalog with the latest snapshot.

Install Hugo, Create site and Host on github pages. Finally, Automate with github actions - Part 1

I have used a few hosting websites like Hpage, wordpress.com, etc.. for a long time. But I wanted to host my website on something free and fast. I thought of using GitHub pages, but converting my WordPress site to Github pages was a very big task for me. I was looking for easy to use software to generate MD pages. That’s where I’ve found Hugo. Hugo is a very lightweight software to generate a static website of your own.

Auto Deploy new VDI in xendesktop catalog

As part of day to day tasks, one of the major activity for citrix admins is to maintain free VDIs in xendesktop delivery groups. If we dont have registered free VDI machines, and when new users try to connect to VDI, they would get errors like “Cannot start VM”. So, we have to make sure we have enough free VDIs in delivery groups. As a part of this process, I wrote a powershell script that would auto provision new VDIs to a given catalog and add them to delivery group.

Kubernetes Services - Load Balancer

The NodePort Limitation Consider a four-node cluster hosting front-end applications, such as a voting app and a result app. To expose these via NodePort, Kubernetes allocates a port from the default range (30000-32767) on every node. Even if the application pods reside on only two nodes (e.g., nodes with IPs 70 and 71), the NodePort service creates iptables rules across all nodes. Consequently, a user can access the application via any node IP in the cluster.
